Bikoret Hamikra

To the man with the urgent question: How can a person who is convinced of the truth of Bikoret Hamikra continue? How can he maintain a Kesher with Hashem?"

It is hard for me to believe that it is really Bikoret Hamikra that brings you to a crisis. Where was He, the Almighty, when His people were being slaughtered, in the Shoah? You see, it is hard to believe in Hashem. Speaking for myself, if rational analysis can do to me what human suffering cannot do, I would doubt my moral perfection. Put differently, I would expect that faith that survives the Shoah, can survive all rational analysis.

Regarding the Shoah, a surviving remnant of what once was, one, or two, per family or per clan, flourishes in the Land of Israel. There it turned into a beautiful Keshet of mixtures. Who would have believed it? The Hand of Hashem is clearly in this, though it is what few would have expected. The influence on one's thinking should therefore be profound. It is here, in the profundity of your thinking, that you cannot do without Bikoret Hamikra. Because Ben Zoma, it is him they tried to kill, while the world shook, came to be inside.

I teach them to create the future, and all that hath been— to redeem by creating. The past of man to redeem, and every “It was” to transform, until the Will saith: “But so did I will it! So shall I will it —” All that is called evil by the good, must come together in order that one truth may be born. Aĺl this, and much more, Nietzsche thought, and Zarathustra spoke.

Learn from Ben Zoma's sensitivity, when he shocked the Universe. Just like the miracle of Medinat Israel had the power to produce Religious Zionists, through the same miracle there is power to convert religious Jews into conscious Jews, especially conscious of their history. Jews are a people indigenous to the Land of Israel, though their culture is influenced by foreigners (see the theory of Ben Gurion). The foreign origin of the Levites, and only the Levites (in the ancient times), is an insight also stemming from the sensitive learning of Bikoret Hamikra, and proves to be crucial. Bikoret Hamikra gives enormous freedom, to reconstruct.

The nation of Israel accepts all Jews from whatever background, with whatever brand of Judaism, similar to the ancient acceptance of the Levites, which, according to this, has won us the support of Hashem, to win the war against those who come to fight against us. And it has to be read aloud: Hashem will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under the heavens. The advice is to put your hand upon the throne of Hashem. He is at war with Amalek throughout the ages.

Who are the guarantees? The people of Truth, the Anshei Amanah. They once disappeared (Sotah 48a) and now they have reappeared. They have Torat Emet in their mouth, the Torah of the Truth (Malachi 2:6). The bottom line is this. Don't let the rabbis take away your faith in Hashem. You have to become sensitive to Hashem, because He is hiding, behind P, behind D. Behind random events that are not random. Behind the bad and the beautiful. Enter Zion, enter the Land of the Truth. Be a clue, to the clueless.
