YHWH's word came to Abraham in a vision, saying, "Don't fear, Abraham. I'm a shield for you. Your reward is very much." And he trusted in YHWH, and He considered it for him as virtue.
And He said to him, "I am YHWH, who brought you out of Haran to give you this land, to possess it." And he said, "My Lord YHWH, how will I know that I'll possess it?"
And He said to him, "Take a three-year-old heifer and a three-year-old she-goat and a three-year-old ram and a dove and a pigeon for me."
And he took all of these for Him and split them up in the middle and set each half opposite its other half, but he did not split the birds. And birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Abraham retrieved them. And the sun was about to set, and a slumber had come over Abraham; and, here, a big, dark terror was coming over him.
And He said to Abraham, "You shall know that your seed will be an alien in a land that is not theirs, and they will serve them, and they will degrade them four hundred years. But I'll judge the nation whom they'll serve as well, and after that they'll go out with much property. And you: you'll come to your fathers in peace. You'll be buried at a good old age. And a fourth generation will come back here, because the Amorite's crime is not yet complete."
In a field which Abraham had bought from the children of Heth, in there Abraham was buried* -- and Sarah, his wife. And Sarah's life was a hundred years and twenty years and seven years: the years of Sarah's life. And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life that he lived: a hundred years and seventy years and five years. And he expired. And Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him at the cave of Machpelah at the field of Ephron, son of Zohar, the Hittite, facing Mamre, and the field and the cave that was in it were established for Abraham as a possession for a tomb from the children of Heth.
